A Cultural Heritage Hamlet

Marbleton is a charming hamlet that was able to work its way up to the list of the Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec Association. The distinctive name of this village comes from a marble quarry that was exploited in the 1850s. In summer, people come to enjoy the outdoor concerts presented in this ancient quarry that bears an exceptional acoustics.

It is also because of the exploitation of a limestone quarry – which is still exploited today – that a French-speaking community came to settle in the area in 1895. They thus joined the English, the Irish and the Scottish who were already living in the area. This cohabitation can also be seen through the diversity of the Catholic and Protestant churches built in the region. Visitors can admire the Anglo-Saxon architectural heritage through the imposing houses, the 19th-century wooden castles and the centennial cemeteries. As for nature enthusiasts, they can visit Lake Argent, which is an enchanting site where everyone can relax.
