Stanbridge-East

A Village Tinged with History

The village of Stanbridge-East is part of the Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec Association. It is located on the banks of the Brochets River and offers breathtaking viewpoints on the mountains and valleys that surround the village. Stanbridge-East was established at the beginning of the 19th century and experienced an economical boom during the construction of the railroad. A great number of factories also opened, and among them the wool mill, the wood spinning top factory and the leather tannery.

Agriculture quickly became the main activity in the village and nowadays, farms still grow many regional products, among which a great variety of berries. Nowadays, visitors can still admire the Anglican, Catholic and United churches, as well as the general store and the Grange à Bill. Many activities are offered around this village, like biking, canoeing down the river, as well as several festivals and events that take place year round.
