The village of Knowlton is part of the Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec Association. It is located on the shores of Lake Brome, which is a beautiful five-kilometre-long lake. The streets of the village are always lively with antique shops and cafés. Knowlton was established in 1821 with the construction of the first mill, and its population grew quickly, thanks to the flour and saw mills.
Later, during the second half of the 19th century, Knowlton became the administrative centre of the region. Just like in other cities and villages of the region, visitors can admire the friendly cohabitation of the different religions, especially with the three churches (Catholic, Anglican and Methodist). In Knowlton, in addition to the many water activities visitors can do, people can also visit the Musée historique du comté de Brome, the ancient post office and the old 1894 library.
