Frelighsburg is part of the Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec Association and is located in a charming little valley, on the banks of the Brochets River, from where you can see Mount Pinacle. The village has a rich heritage, thanks to its exceptional geographical location. In fact, numerous immigrants from the United States settled here, like Abram Freligh, who bought the saw mill and thus gave his name to the village.
Nowadays, the built heritage of the village is still very important and well preserved. Among other constructions, visitors can admire a Catholic and an Anglican church, the old presbytery, the convent and the general store. Several major battles took place here, among which were two attempts of the United States to conquer the region in 1866 and in 1870, which both failed, fortunately. During your visit of the village, take the time to admire the landscape, where there are apple tree as far as the eye can see. Those trees were planted at the end of the 1920s and they are very beautiful when in bloom.
