The first county to be erected in Lower Canada was here, in the Brome-Missisquoi area. It was first colonized by the Loyalists, then by the French Canadians. This sector has kept the charm of its Victorian-style houses and buildings, and nowadays, visitors can still take in the Anglo-Saxon atmosphere in the many villages. The sector has evolved over the years with the wood mills that dotted the land.
Nowadays, when visitors cross the region, they rather see orchards, cider makings, and sugar shacks along the roads. Artists are also important in the region. In the Saint-Romuald church, visitors will find, among other works of art, about 30 works of art by the Canadian painter Ozias Leduc. There are also a number of craft shops everywhere in the sector, and several art activities take place year round.
