The city of Asbestos houses the world’s largest opencast asbestos mine. At the mine, an observation platform will allow you to look down the 350-meter-deep and 1-mile-wide shaft. Right next to it, the Musée minéralogique et d’histoire minière will present you the minerals as well as the history of this asbestos capital and the important strikes it went through. The city also has an 18-hole golf course located in an enchanting setting. In winter, the course is turned into cross-country skiing trails to welcome this sport lovers, and four ice rinks are installed for curling. Nature lovers will also be pleased by the parc Marie-Victorin, a flower garden located in Kingsey Falls, where visitors will discover all sorts of beautiful flowers and will even get to participate in several activities and events. In the Trois-Lacs area, now merged with the city of Asbestos, you will find the Club de chasse et pêche Larochelle, which offers a spectacular view on the lake and sunsets. You can also go on a canoe, kayak or pedalo ride on the lake or go fishing. In winter it is even possible to go snowshoeing and ice fishing in a small shack with your friends.
