If Lawrenceville is known under this name today, it’s thanks to Isaac Lawrence, one of the first settlers who came to establish in the Shefford region. It was in 1794, and Lawrence was from the United States. In 1836, his son Henry officially founded the village of Lawrenceville and built, among other things, a flourmill. Today, this mill no longer exists, but we can still see its ruins. In 2000, the population of this 17.40 km2 village was estimated to 750 inhabitants. Its main attraction is without any doubt the Mine Cristal Québec, the only quartz crystal mine in Canada.
