The Val Saint-François area is wealthy in raw materials, and this is why English, Americans, and Irish wanted to take possession of it during the 19th century. This area has many mines from which people extracted copper, potassium, and slate, among other ore over the years. The construction of the railroad contributed to the growth of the area, and numerous people chose this place to settle.
A large number of museums explain some manufacturing processes or the exploitation of different resources to visitors. Everywhere in the area, people can visit picturesque villages that kept their authenticity over the years, as well as buildings on which visitors can admire the influence of the different people who came to settle here.
